Xeriscape is a great choice for hot summers once it’s established it’s way less work than lawn.
Very rough cost range (DIY vs hiring):
DIY refresh (plants + mulch/rock + edging): ~$800–$3k
DIY with lots of rock + bigger plants: ~$3k–$8k
Hiring it out / hardscape included (steppers, grading, etc.): ~$8k–$20k+
