What is a drought tolerant alternative to this?

If you’re looking for a drought-tolerant alternative, you’re already on the right track succulents + gravel/mulch is basically the low-water cheat code. Some solid swaps that still look clean: Agave / yucca for structure (hardy + basically zero fuss) blue fescue / ornamental grasses for that soft texture sedum / ice plant as groundcover instead of anything thirsty rock mulch (DG or gravel) to keep weeds down + hold moisture You get the same modern desert vibe https://app.neighborbrite.com/s/XReV4B-B871
